What to Expect from Ketamine Therapy

A supportive, structured approach to help you feel prepared, safe, and guided.

Before your session

We begin with a free phone consultation to answer your questions, review your history, and help determine whether ketamine therapy may be a good fit. From there, you will complete a Comprehensive Assessment with our medical team, which includes a detailed evaluation and a discussion of your goals for treatment.

If ketamine therapy is appropriate, we will develop a personalized treatment plan and guide you through preparation for your sessions. This includes clear instructions related to eating, medications, transportation, and what to expect on the day of treatment.

During your session

On the day of your session, you will be welcomed into a calm, comfortable environment designed to support relaxation and focus. Ketamine is administered based on your personalized treatment plan, which may include subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, or sublingual methods.

Sessions typically last around two hours. Throughout your experience, you will be closely monitored by our medical team to ensure your safety and comfort.

Many individuals describe a sense of inward focus, relaxation, or increased openness during their session. Depending on your plan, your therapist may be present to support you through the experience.

After your session

Following your session, you will have time to rest as the effects of ketamine gradually wear off. Some individuals may feel groggy or disoriented, so it is important to arrange for someone to drive you home. You should not drive for the remainder of the day.

Our team will provide aftercare instructions and help coordinate follow-up and integration support as needed.

In the days following

In the days after a session, some individuals notice increased emotional clarity or shifts in mood, perspective, or symptoms.

Integration is an important part of the process. Working with an integration therapist can help you make sense of what arose during the session and begin applying those insights in a meaningful way. These conversations help bridge the experience into daily life, supporting lasting change rather than a temporary shift.

Ongoing care and maintenance

Treatment plans are individualized and often include a series of 6–12 sessions, depending on your needs and goals.

Depending on your response to treatment, ongoing or maintenance sessions may be recommended. These sessions are designed to support continued progress and help sustain the benefits of treatment over time.

Safety and side effects

Possible side effects of ketamine can include nausea, dizziness, elevated blood pressure, or temporary confusion. These effects are typically short-lived and resolve soon after the session.

Your safety is our priority. We take steps to minimize side effects through personalized dosing, supportive medications when needed, and continuous monitoring throughout your session.
